Bmw Replacing Electronic Control Units

BimCOM allows you to transfer configuration between ECUs. Both "donor" and "donee" ECUs must be of same type, run same software version and have same coding index.

As of now BimCOM does not allow you to load/restore configuration. Replacement procedure must be invoked as follows:

• Prepare the car for ECU swapping
• With original ECU connected run BimCOM, connect to the ECU, choose "Configuration" function
• Turn ignition OFF
• Keep BimCOM interface fully connected to the car and replace ECUs (battery disconnection is highly recommended)
• Turn ignition ON
• Select "Write configuration to ECU"

This procedure will be replaced by more sophisticated method in one of future free BimCOM updates.
