Fiat Injectors Coding
Supported coding feature by FiCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/ficom
What it does
- Programs injector-specific calibration codes into the ECU
- Allows precise fuel quantity and timing control per cylinder
- Compensates for manufacturing tolerances between injectors
When it is required
- After replacing one or more injectors
- After swapping injectors between cylinders
- After ECU replacement
- During engine rebuild or cylinder head work
Conditions that must be met
- Correct injector codes available (IMA / C2I / ISA depending on engine)
- Injectors properly installed and connected
- No active injector circuit or rail pressure faults
- Stable battery voltage during coding
What happens during coding
- ECU stores the injector code for each cylinder
- Adjusts:
- Injection duration
- Injection timing
- Cylinder balancing corrections
- Confirms validity of entered codes
If coding is not performed
- Rough idle and uneven running
- Increased fuel consumption
- Higher emissions and smoke
- Cold start issues
- Injector-related fault codes
After coding
- Start engine and allow it to idle
- Perform a short adaptation drive:
- Light load
- Gradual acceleration
- Verify smooth operation and no new fault codes
