Fiat Installing Older Used Control Units
This applies to all vehicles with central configuration in body computer: If re-installing older (used) or new ECU, configuration transfer from body computer must be performed. Fiat Proxi alignment in body computer may also be required if adding a new feature to the vehicle.
Please note: some ECUs do not support configuration data transfer, FiCOM reports error in such case. This is normal.
BCM/BSI Configuration Transfer
This function is used when replacing an BSI (Body Control Unit) with another unit of the same type.
To transfer the configuration, first connect to the original BSI and save its configuration data to a file. Then connect to the replacement BSI and write (upload) the saved configuration file into it.
This procedure allows transferring vehicle-specific settings from the original BSI to the new or used one.
Important: The source and target ECUs must be of the same type and have compatible software versions. Using a different ECU type or incompatible software may result in malfunction or unsuccessful configuration transfer.
Procedure
- Start FiCOM and mark development mode in settings
- Connect to the original (old) BSI.
- Go to the configuration
- Save the configuration data to a file.
- Disconnect and connect to the replacement BSI.
- Load and write the saved configuration file into the new BSI.
- Verify that the configuration has been applied correctly.
Symptoms of Incorrect Configuration
- Fault code related to incorrect configuration stored in the newly installed ECU.
- Blinking "---" symbols in the odometer display.
