Self Adaptive Parameters Reset
What it does
- Resets all learned self-adaptation values in the ECU
- Clears long-term corrections related to:
- Fuel trims
- Airflow calculations
- Idle control
- Throttle response
- Forces the ECU to relearn baseline engine behavior
When it is required
- After major engine repairs
- After replacing sensors affecting mixture or load:
- MAF
- MAP
- Throttle body
- EGR valve
- After resolving persistent drivability issues
- After ECU replacement or software update
Conditions that must be met
- Engine at operating temperature (unless specified otherwise)
- No active fault codes
- Intake and exhaust systems sealed
- Stable battery voltage during reset
What happens during the reset
- ECU clears stored adaptive memory
- Resets:
- Long-term fuel trims
- Idle air corrections
- Load calculation offsets
- Returns control strategies to factory baseline
If reset is not performed
- Old incorrect adaptations may remain active
- Engine may:
- Run rough
- Hesitate
- Consume more fuel
- Reduced effectiveness of replaced components
After the reset
- Let engine idle for several minutes
- Perform an adaptation drive:
- Light throttle
- Steady cruising
- Gradual acceleration
- Monitor live data for stable values
- Ensure no fault codes return
