Battery Replacement / Battery Monitoring Reset
What it does
- Registers a new battery in the vehicle system
- Resets the Battery Monitoring System (BMS)
- Allows correct charging strategy and energy management
When it is required
- After replacing the vehicle battery
- When changing battery type or capacity
- After resolving battery monitoring fault codes
Conditions that must be met
- New battery correctly installed and connected
- Battery type and capacity known
- No active charging system faults
- Ignition ON, engine OFF
- Stable battery voltage
What happens during the procedure
- BMS adaptation values are cleared
- ECU stores:
- Battery age
- Battery capacity
- Battery type (AGM / EFB / standard)
- Charging and load management are recalculated
If the procedure is not performed
- Incorrect charging behavior
- Reduced battery life
- Start-stop system malfunction
- Energy management warnings may appear
After replacement
- Verify charging voltage
- Check start-stop system operation (if equipped)
- Clear related fault codes
- Confirm no battery warnings remain
