Ford TPMS Learning
Supported coding features by FCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/fcom
What it does
- Teaches the TPMS control unit the positions and IDs of the wheel sensors
- Ensures correct tire pressure monitoring for each wheel
When it is required
- After tire rotation
- After replacing one or more TPMS sensors
- After wheel replacement (summer/winter wheels)
- When TPMS warning light remains active
Conditions that must be met
- All tires inflated to specified pressure
- Correct TPMS sensors installed
- Vehicle stationary at the start of the procedure
- Ignition ON, engine OFF (or as instructed)
- Stable battery voltage
What happens during learning
- TPMS module enters learning mode
- Sensors are learned in sequence:
- Front left
- Front right
- Rear right
- Rear left
- Each sensor ID and position is stored
If learning is not performed
- TPMS warning light remains on
- Incorrect wheel position display
- Tire pressure warnings may be inaccurate
After learning
- Drive the vehicle as instructed to finalize learning
- Verify TPMS status in the instrument cluster
- Confirm no TPMS fault codes remain
