DPF Reset (After Converter ASSY Replacement)
What it does
- Resets DPF and LNT (Lean NOx Trap) learned values
- Clears stored soot and ash load counters
- Informs the ECU that a new DPF/LNT unit is installed
When it is required
- After replacing the Converter ASSY (LNT + DPF)
- After installing a new or remanufactured DPF
- After exhaust aftertreatment system replacement
Conditions that must be met
- New Converter ASSY correctly installed
- No exhaust leaks present
- Differential pressure and temperature sensors connected
- No active DPF or exhaust fault codes
- Ignition ON, engine OFF
- Stable battery voltage
What happens during the reset
- ECU resets:
- Soot load value
- Ash accumulation counter
- DPF/LNT aging data
- Exhaust backpressure reference is reinitialized
- Aftertreatment monitoring restarts from baseline
If reset is not performed
- ECU assumes old, clogged DPF is still installed
- Regeneration frequency may be incorrect
- Warning lights may remain active
- Reduced engine performance or limp mode possible
After the reset
- Clear stored DPF-related fault codes
- Perform a short road test
- Monitor differential pressure and temperature values
- Allow normal regeneration to occur during driving
