Hyundai Kia EGR Valve Replacement
Supported coding features by HiCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/hicom
What it does
- Resets and relearns EGR valve adaptation values in the ECU
- Ensures correct exhaust gas recirculation flow
- Restores proper engine idle and emissions control
When it is required
- After replacing the EGR valve
- After cleaning or repairing the EGR system
- When EGR-related fault codes are present
- When drivability issues occur:
- Rough idle
- Hesitation
- Excessive smoke
Conditions that must be met
- Engine at operating temperature (unless specified)
- No active EGR or intake/exhaust fault codes
- Stable battery voltage
- Intake system sealed and leak-free
What happens during replacement
- ECU commands EGR valve to:
- Fully closed position
- Fully open position
- Learns:
- End stops
- Valve response speed
- Flow behavior
- Clears old EGR correction values
If replacement is not performed
- Incorrect EGR flow
- Fault codes may remain active
- Poor fuel efficiency and increased emissions
- Potential engine performance issues
After replacement
- Monitor EGR valve position and flow in live data
- Perform a short road test
- Confirm smooth engine operation
- Verify no EGR-related warning lights remain
