Supported coding features by HiCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/hicom
Electric VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) Replacement
What it does
- Programs the ECU for a new electric VGT actuator
- Ensures correct turbocharger vane positioning and boost control
- Restores optimal engine performance and efficiency
When it is required
- After replacing the electric VGT actuator
- After turbocharger replacement
- When turbo-related fault codes are present
- When abnormal boost or engine performance is observed
Conditions that must be met
- New VGT actuator correctly installed and connected
- No active turbocharger or engine fault codes
- Stable battery voltage
- Ignition ON, engine OFF (unless instructed)
What happens during replacement
- ECU learns:
- Minimum and maximum vane positions
- Actuator response speed
- Boost control parameters
- Clears old adaptation values for VGT control
If replacement is not performed
- Boost pressure may be incorrect
- Turbocharger warning light may remain active
- Reduced engine performance
- Increased emissions
After replacement
- Monitor turbocharger vane position and boost in live data
- Perform a short road test under light and medium load
- Confirm smooth engine response
- Verify no VGT-related warning lights remain
