What it does
- Activates ABS and ESP hydraulic valves and pump
- Removes trapped air from the brake hydraulic unit
- Ensures correct brake pressure and pedal feel
When it is required
- After replacing brake lines or hoses
- After ABS / ESP hydraulic unit replacement
- After master cylinder replacement
- When brake pedal feels soft or spongy
Conditions that must be met
- Brake system filled with correct brake fluid
- No external brake fluid leaks
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Bleeder valves connected to each wheel
What happens during the procedure
- ABS pump runs and valves cycle
- Air is pushed out of the hydraulic circuits
- Brake fluid flows through:
- Master cylinder
- ABS hydraulic unit
- Brake calipers
If procedure is not performed
- Air remains trapped in ABS block
- Reduced braking efficiency
- Long or soft brake pedal
- Increased stopping distance
After bleeding
- Check brake fluid level
- Perform standard manual bleeding
- Test brake pedal firmness
- Verify no ABS or ESP warnings remain
