Mercedes Clear Engine Adaptation Memory
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
What it does
- Resets all adaptive values learned by the ECU for engine operation
- Clears adjustments for:
- Fuel trims
- Ignition timing
- Idle speed
- Throttle adaptation
- Allows ECU to relearn parameters from a clean baseline
When it is required
- After replacing engine control sensors (MAF, O2, TPS, etc.)
- After replacing ECU or engine components
- When drivability issues occur:
- Rough idle
- Hesitation
- Poor fuel economy
- After cleaning or replacing injectors
Conditions that must be met
- Ignition ON, engine OFF
- Stable battery voltage
- Vehicle stationary
- No active critical engine fault codes
What happens during the procedure
- ECU erases stored adaptation values
- Resets all sensor offsets and correction factors
- ECU begins relearning under actual driving conditions:
- Fuel injection
- Ignition timing
- Idle control
- Air-fuel mixture
If procedure is not performed
- Old adaptation values may cause:
- Rough idle
- Hesitation or jerky acceleration
- Poor fuel economy
- Incorrect emissions readings
After clearing
- Verify live engine parameters
- Perform a short test drive under varying load
- Confirm smooth engine operation
- Monitor for any fault codes during relearning
