Mercedes DPF Reset
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Reset
What it does
- Resets the soot load and regeneration counters in the ECU
- Clears DPF-related warning messages
- Allows the ECU to track soot accumulation from zero
When it is required
- After replacing the DPF or associated sensors
- After performing a forced DPF regeneration manually
- When DPF fault codes remain despite successful regeneration
- After ECU replacement
Conditions that must be met
- New or cleaned DPF installed correctly
- Engine at normal operating temperature
- Sensors (pressure, temperature) functioning
- Ignition ON, engine OFF (or as instructed)
- Stable battery voltage
What happens during the procedure
- ECU clears DPF soot load values
- Resets regeneration history
- Reinitializes DPF monitoring logic
If reset is not performed
- ECU may incorrectly calculate soot load
- DPF warning lights may remain active
- Forced regeneration may not initiate correctly
- Possible engine limp mode
After reset
- Verify soot load and regeneration counters in live data
- Start engine and perform a short drive
- Confirm no DPF warnings remain
- Monitor system for proper passive regeneration
