Mercedes EGR Valve Reset
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
What it does
- Resets the adaptation values of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve
- Clears learned positions and offsets in the ECU
- Restores proper EGR operation and emissions control
When it is required
- After replacing or cleaning the EGR valve
- After intake or turbo system repairs affecting EGR flow
- When EGR fault codes or warning lights are present
- After ECU replacement
Conditions that must be met
- EGR valve correctly installed and connected
- Intake and exhaust system sealed
- Ignition ON, engine OFF (or as instructed)
- Stable battery voltage
- No active critical engine fault codes
What happens during the procedure
- ECU clears old EGR adaptation values
- Baseline valve positions are stored
- System relearns:
- Idle operation
- EGR opening under load
- Emission control adjustments
If reset is not performed
- EGR may operate incorrectly
- Engine may have rough idle or poor performance
- Fault codes and warning lights may remain active
- Emissions may be higher than normal
After reset
- Verify EGR valve position in live data
- Start engine and check idle and load response
- Perform a short test drive
- Confirm no EGR-related warnings remain
