Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
Engine Start Enable After Crash
What it does
- Resets the crash-detection lockout in the ECU
- Allows the engine to start after a collision event
- Ensures vehicle can be restarted safely after airbag deployment or crash sensor activation
When it is required
- After airbag deployment
- After accident with crash sensor activation
- When ECU has blocked engine start due to crash detection
- After replacing crash sensors or airbag control unit
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle structurally repaired and safe to start
- Crash sensors and airbag system operational
- Ignition ON, engine OFF
- Stable battery voltage
- No active critical fault codes that prevent start
What happens during the procedure
- ECU crash lockout is cleared
- Engine start permission is restored
- Safety systems are reinitialized:
- Airbags
- Seatbelt pretensioners
- Crash detection logic
If procedure is not performed
- Engine may remain immobilized
- Vehicle cannot be restarted
- Safety systems may be inconsistent
After enabling
- Verify engine starts normally
- Check airbag and crash system status in diagnostics
- Confirm no crash-related warning lights remain
- Perform a careful test drive if vehicle safe
