What it does
- Locks high-voltage (HV) components in hybrid or electric vehicles
- Prevents unintended activation or voltage output
- Ensures technician and vehicle safety during service work
When it is required
- Before servicing high-voltage components
- During repair or replacement of HV system parts
- Before working on wiring, battery, inverter, or electric motor
- When placing the vehicle in a safe service state
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Ignition OFF
- HV safety procedures followed
- Diagnostic tool connected and authorized
- Stable 12V battery voltage
What happens during locking
- High-voltage system is deactivated
- Contactors are opened to isolate HV battery
- HV components are electrically locked
- System confirms safe state for service
If lock is not applied
- Risk of electric shock
- Unsafe working conditions
- Possible damage to HV components
- Violation of safety procedures
After locking
- Verify HV system status shows “safe / locked”
- Confirm zero voltage at HV components (as required)
- Proceed with authorized service work only
