Mercedes Learning Wheel Sensor
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
What it does
- Relearns and synchronizes wheel speed sensors with the ABS / ESP system
- Ensures accurate wheel speed detection for:
- ABS
- ESP
- Traction control
- Restores correct stability and braking behavior
When it is required
- After replacing one or more wheel speed sensors
- After ABS / ESP control unit replacement
- After suspension or wheel bearing repairs
- When wheel speed–related fault codes are present
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary on level ground
- Wheels correctly installed and inflated
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- No active ABS / ESP fault codes preventing learning
What happens during learning
- ABS / ESP module initializes wheel sensors
- Sensor signals are compared and synchronized
- Reference values are stored for:
- Individual wheel speeds
- Slip detection
- Stability calculations
If learning is not performed
- ABS or ESP may intervene incorrectly
- Traction control may malfunction
- Warning lights may remain active
- Reduced driving safety
After learning
- Verify wheel speed values in live data
- Perform a short test drive
- Confirm proper ABS / ESP operation
- Ensure no wheel sensor warnings remain
