Mercedes Positioning Motors Adaptation
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
What it does
- Adapts and calibrates positioning motors in various vehicle systems
- Learns end stops and operating ranges
- Synchronizes motors with the corresponding control units
- Ensures precise and smooth actuator movement
Systems typically involved
- Air distribution and flap motors (HVAC)
- Intake or exhaust flap actuators
- Headlamp leveling motors
- Other electric positioning actuators
When it is required
- After replacing positioning motors or actuators
- After control unit replacement
- After battery disconnection
- When actuator-related fault codes are present
- When motor movement is incorrect or noisy
Conditions that must be met
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- No mechanical blockage
- Diagnostic tool connected
What happens during adaptation
- Motors are driven to minimum and maximum positions
- End positions are detected and stored
- Motor current and travel are monitored
- Control unit saves calibrated values
If adaptation is not performed
- Limited or incorrect actuator movement
- Fault codes may remain stored
- Reduced system performance
- Audible motor noise or malfunction
