Mercedes Programing Wheel Sensor
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
What it does
- Programs new wheel speed sensors into the ABS / ESP system
- Assigns individual sensor IDs to the corresponding wheel position
- Ensures correct wheel speed detection and stability control functionality
When it is required
- After replacing one or more wheel speed sensors
- After ABS / ESP control unit replacement
- When fault codes indicate incorrect or missing wheel sensor data
- After suspension or wheel bearing repairs affecting sensor readings
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary on level ground
- Wheels correctly installed and aligned
- Ignition ON, engine OFF
- Stable battery voltage
- No active ABS / ESP fault codes preventing programming
What happens during programming
- Each sensor is identified and linked to the correct wheel position
- ECU stores sensor IDs and calibration data
- Wheel speed signals are validated for:
- ABS functionality
- ESP / traction control
- Stability calculations
If programming is not performed
- ABS / ESP may intervene incorrectly
- Traction control may malfunction
- Warning lights may remain active
- Reduced driving safety
After programming
- Verify wheel speed signals in live data
- Perform a short test drive
- Confirm correct ABS / ESP operation
- Ensure no wheel sensor warnings remain
