Mercedes Release Parking Brake
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
What it does
- Releases the electronic parking brake (EPB) actuators
- Allows vehicle to move freely
- Synchronizes EPB status with the control unit
When it is required
- Before driving the vehicle
- During service or diagnostic procedures
- After EPB calibration or assembly
- When mechanical obstruction prevents release
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary and level
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- No active critical EPB fault codes
- Wheels unobstructed
What happens during the procedure
- EPB actuators retract brake calipers or pads
- Control unit monitors motor current and movement
- Parking brake status is updated in ECU
If release is not performed
- Vehicle cannot move
- EPB may remain engaged
- Fault codes or warning lights may remain
- Risk of brake or motor damage
After release
- Verify parking brake indicator is off
- Test brake function and lever/button operation
- Confirm no EPB warnings remain
