What it does
- Unlocks the independent (auxiliary) heater system
- Allows activation and operation after service or lockout
- Ensures proper communication with control unit and safety interlocks
When it is required
- After battery disconnection or replacement
- After control unit replacement
- When heater is blocked due to fault codes or safety lock
- Following maintenance on the heating system
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Ignition ON (if required by procedure)
- Stable battery voltage
- Independent heater properly installed
- No active critical fault codes preventing activation
What happens during unlocking
- ECU removes operational lock or safety block
- Heater system checks sensors and actuators
- Activation status and control logic are restored
If unlocking is not performed
- Independent heater may remain disabled
- Heater controls may not respond
- Fault codes or warning messages may persist
- Reduced cabin or engine preheating functionality
After unlocking
- Verify heater operation via diagnostics
- Test heating function if safe
- Confirm no warning lights or error messages remain
