Windshield Parameterization and Adaptation
What it does
- Configures and adapts sensors mounted on the windshield (rain, light, camera)
- Ensures correct operation of automatic wipers, lighting, and ADAS systems
- Stores windshield-specific parameters for precise system behavior
When it is required
- After windshield replacement
- After rain sensor, light sensor, or ADAS camera replacement
- When wipers, headlight assist, or driver assistance functions are inaccurate
- After recalibration of ADAS systems or related control units
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Windshield clean and unobstructed
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- No active fault codes for rain sensor or ADAS camera
What happens during parameterization and adaptation
- Control unit identifies windshield type and sensor positions
- Sensors are calibrated for:
- Wiper sweep range
- Rain detection sensitivity
- Light detection and headlight assist
- ADAS camera alignment
- Parameters are stored in the ECU for optimal operation
If procedure is not performed
- Wipers may operate incorrectly or intermittently
- Headlight assist may malfunction
- ADAS camera systems may provide inaccurate warnings or control
- Fault codes or warning lights may remain active
After procedure
- Test wiper automatic function
- Verify headlight automatic and ADAS functions
- Confirm smooth and precise sensor operation
- Clear any related fault codes
