ABS / PSM Activation – Deactivation
What it does
- Activates or deactivates the ABS and PSM (Porsche Stability Management) systems
- Controls vehicle stability, traction control, and anti-lock braking
- Used mainly for diagnostics, testing, or specific workshop procedures
When it is required
- During diagnostic testing or fault tracing
- After ABS or PSM control unit replacement
- After sensor replacement (wheel speed, yaw, steering angle)
- For dynamometer testing or special service modes
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
- No critical system faults (unless diagnosing)
What happens during activation/deactivation
- ABS and/or PSM functions are enabled or temporarily disabled
- Control unit status is updated and stored
- Warning indicators may illuminate during deactivation
- System readiness is confirmed via diagnostic feedback
If procedure is not performed correctly
- ABS or PSM may remain inactive
- Warning lights may stay illuminated
- Stability and braking assistance may be unavailable
- Fault codes may persist
After procedure
- Reactivate ABS/PSM before road use
- Verify system status in live data
- Clear fault codes if necessary
- Perform a short test drive to confirm proper operation
